What's Happening

The Fayre is home to a multitude of events and activities. Church Street will see individuals from the community coming together to enjoy the bank holiday in many fun and exciting ways.

Please be sure to fully explore the venues on the day as you can't see everything from the street!

United Reformed Church

The United Reformed Church is a long-time supporter of the Fayre and is hosting a flower festival. They have many stalls available, including bric-a-brac and refreshments. Silver Bowl Chinese Takeaway is located opposite the church and will be open for business all day.

Bocking Church Street Primary School

The School's activities are set back from the street and are mainly located within the school grounds. This year the school hosts some exciting activities including Go-Karts, train rides and pony petting. Also on the day will be the always excellent traditional Maypole Dancing performed by the schoolchildren. Face painting, bouncy castles, craft stalls and amusements for children of all ages will be available as well as refreshments, candy floss and a barbeque.

Bocking Sports Club

The Bocking Sports Club is located just off of Church Street, accessible about 100 yards up the hill from the Co-op (on the right) or 110 yards down the hill from Bocking Primary School (on the left). The club is hosting a variety of activities on its grounds this year including Essex Landrover off-road rides, have-a-go driving, dog training and “bowling 4 a pig”. Classic cars and bikes will be on exhibition, plus drills by the Braintree Air Cadets and performances from Vocal Reflections.

Village Green & St. Mary's Church

The village green and St. Mary's Church is located at the bottom of Church Street. The Church will be hosting the annual Flower Festival (along with the URC) and the tower is also open for visitors who wish to see the rolling fields and spectacular views of the village. The church grounds host a coconut shie, footballing and an assortment of fun stalls. The church hall will be serving cakes and refreshments. The Village Green is home to many other stalls, the fairground organ and a barbeque is also located outside the church hall. As usual, Mario Falzarano will be serving delicious ice creams on the Green all day.

Bocking Windmill

The Bocking Windmill will be open for this year's Fayre after recent refurbishment. The iconic 300 year old windmill, located at the top of the street, will be open all day for visitors with refreshments available.

Bocking Concert Brass

We are delighted to welcome back Bocking Concert Brass to the Fayre again this year. They will be playing a variety of musical numbers on the village green throughout the day (please check the timetable). Please visit their website to find out more about them and for booking information - bockingconcertbrass.co.uk.

Quackers

Quackers is local institution and hosts the annual Duck Race which raises money for various good causes. In 2012 the money raised from the race supported the local Alms Houses, funding a seaside trip for the residents. Ducks are available to buy on the Village Green and at the Sports Club all day. The race starts at King’s Bridge at 4pm. Don’t miss it!

The Retreat

A popular local pub, boasting eighteenth-century aesthetic, great food and traditional beers and ales available. The Retreat is a fantastic live music venue with frequent visits by blues musicians. Their beer garden will be open.
